Education Project: The Marie D`Orliac School London – Architects 3BM

This kitchen was designed to cater for 700 children and the original facility was only ever intended to be a temporary arrangement. Prior to our involvement, there had been 2 design proposals submitted by others. Working within the professional team, JGA Ltd provided fresh designs that demonstrated another means of setting this operation out. To clearly convey this idea, the layout was presented in 3d. Our designs not only set out the layout, we also carried out detailed measured surveys and provided the initial builders work drawings that encompassed a new ceiling, lighting, floor and wall finishes.

Features: The single most significant enhancement to this site was the incorporation of a new rack dishwash machine that reduced the wash up time by over 60%. Working with the structural engineers we were able to remove a wall and completely reconfigure the area.

The servery was reconfigured to change the flow which prevented queue crossover with mobile units that can be moved to the sides of the area when not in use.

Challenges: This facility is located within an historical grade 2 listed building that had all of the restrictions that come with this designation.
